Facing a Second Background Check Request: How Should My Friend Respond to HR's Demands?

mekalapavane
Dear All, One of my friends is working with an IT company (MNC). Before her joining date, the company had completed all the background verification processes and then issued the offer letter. She submitted all the documents from her previous company along with the first and last 3 months' bank statements.

As she is approaching her one-year mark in the company, the HR department has requested her to resubmit all the documents once again. They mentioned, "We have doubts about your previous employment, so please resubmit all the documents along with the bank statements covering the full employment period. Failure to submit any document will result in necessary action being taken against you."

What should be her next step in this situation? Can you please provide suggestions and respond as soon as possible?

Regards, Pavani

Thanks for the reply. She had already submitted all the documents, but they required a bank statement covering the total employment period, i.e., 3 years of bank statements, and she doesn't have those statements. They have given her one day to submit those documents. She also requested more time, but they are not willing to grant an extension.

Dear Pavani,

Please ask them to talk with her about the bank statement. Whatever documents you have, submit them; it should be enough.

If she is not going to submit that document, they are asking her to leave the company immediately. Rules are there like that HR can ask the employee to leave immediately. Is there any other way to solve this problem.

Pavani: She can approach the bank and get a complete bank statement. Let her submit the application to the bank, get an acknowledgement of it, and submit it to the office as an interim measure. The certified bank statement could be submitted after it is received.

Hi MEKALAPAVANE, IT company's HR or any company's HR cannot force an employee to resubmit documents after working for around one year. Was there any prior intimation to her to resubmit the same before this? How can they ask her to quit immediately on this pretext? As suggested by Mr. KK!HR, she can get the bank details and submit them for interim relief and then proceed with the next steps. Let her provide substantial justification for such an exit request. Firstly, she can orally speak to them; if this does not work, she can write an email copying the same to the HOD and get clarity.

Well, if you are not at fault and have done nothing wrong, there is no need to worry about it. If your employer has asked you to submit documents, it means there is something that you can't ignore and need to take action. Provide as many details as possible and request them to send an email to you detailing the information they require from you and the purpose of it.
