Is It Necessary to File a Nil Return for PF Form IW-1 and Maintain ESI Accident Register?

abhijithmaravanthe
Dear All, I am working as an HR professional in Bangalore for a Delhi-based private company. We provide transport services to a software company located in Bangalore. They arranged a vendor compliance audit meeting last month, and as per their statutory checklist, we have submitted all the necessary documents.

Observations from the Audit

Based on our document submission, they have provided some observations as follows:

1. We did not produce PF Form IW-1 (for International workers).
2. ESI accident register Form 11 was not submitted.

We do not have international workers in our organization, but the auditor is requesting us to submit a nil return for Form IW-1. My question is, is Form IW-1 mandatory? If yes, how can we obtain this form?

Additionally, please advise on how to maintain the ESI accident register.

Thank you,
Abhijith

Hi Abhijith,

As per PF rules, every month you need to file the IW-1 return with the department. If you don't have any international workers, please submit a nil return. Additionally, you are required to maintain an accident register on the premises. In the event of an accident, you must provide the necessary details; otherwise, simply write "nil" and submit it to the auditor.

Feel free to call or reply back.

Thank you.
