Is My Wife Really Ineligible for ESI Benefits After 14 Months of Contributions? Seeking Advice

mirza munavvar
In our establishment, one employee's wife is facing some maternity issues, and doctors have recommended a Laparoscopic operation. The employee, a male, joined the Employees' State Insurance (ESI) on 01/07/2016. However, the ESI department has stated that his wife is not eligible for the benefit. This is despite the fact that 14 months' worth of contributions have already been paid.

Could you please provide some guidance or suggestions on how to proceed in this situation?

Dear Mr. Munnawar,

The wife of an insured person is eligible for treatment at the ESI Dispensary/Hospital. Please log in to the ESI IP portal with the ESI insurance number to check if the employee is eligible for "Specialized Treatment."

Thank you.

Laparoscopic operation may not be applicable for you. Try asking ESI hospital members whether you are not eligible or if it requires more years of contribution period.
