Legal Formalities Reqd For Setting Up Branch Office

my company is looking forward to establish a branch office in Kolkata. we are HQ in dellhi. can anyone help me with telling what legal formalities are required for opening up branch office in any city/state.

Hi,
Based on teh kind of set up (i.e the type of business that you are into) you need to comply to the regulations.
Eg. shops and establishments act, STPI bonding etc. for software.
Suggest that you interact with your legal cell in theis regard.

The following have to be taken care of :
Branch Office has the meaning assigned to it under the Companies Act, 1956
Register under Shops and Establishment Act
Register for value added tax (VAT) before the Sales Tax Officer of the ward in which the company is located .
Register for Profession tax
Register with Employees' Provident Fund Organization
Register with ESIC
Register for Service Tax if applicable.
