Am I Eligible for a Bonus After Working as an HR Trainee for Over Two Years?

ABIJAY
Dear Sir,

I am Jaya. Currently, I am working as an HR Executive. In my previous company, I worked as an HR trainee for 2 years (from 2.05.2014 to 01.05.2016) and for 1 year and 11 months (02.05.2016 to 14.04.2017) as an HR trainee during the probationary period. I have a query regarding my eligibility for a bonus. Could you please clarify whether I am eligible for the bonus or not?

Thank you.

Hi Jaya,

If you're in payroll, it means you'll be eligible for a bonus.

Dear Jaya,

Under the Payment of Bonus Act, you are eligible to receive a bonus. The company may have designated you as a Trainee, but under Labor Laws, you are considered an employee and therefore eligible.

If your salary was less than $10,000 and you were on the payroll of the company, then you are eligible to claim a bonus.
