Confused About EPF Payment and Remittance Dates? Let's Clarify the Differences and Penalties

Can anybody tell me what is the exact date of EPF payment and remittance date? Because the July 2017 payment was done on 14/08/2017, but in TRRN status, it shows the remittance date as 18/08/2017. Does this attract any penalty? What is the difference between the payment date and remittance date? What is the use of online payment if remitted after 4 days?
