How Do We Determine Bonus Eligibility Across Different Salary Levels at Mills?

Dear sir,

Ref: Bonus clarification.

At Mills, some of the workers are getting salaries ranging from 8,000 to 40,000/-, while some staff members are receiving salaries between 25,000 to 80,000. Additionally, executive staff are getting salaries from 70,000 to 1,10,000. For these three categories, how can we determine the eligible salary for a bonus for the financial year 2016-17? Please provide detailed information.

Dear Sripathi, I think that your organization seems to be a fairly large one, with different grades and categories of employees on its rolls. Therefore, I would like to request you first to go through the amended definition of the terms "employee" u/s 2(13), "salary or wage" u/s 2(21), and the method of "calculation of bonus with respect to certain employees" u/s 12 of the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965, and find out the answers to your queries on your own.
