How the PENCIL Portal Aims to End Child Labour: What You Need to Know

As per the press release by the Ministry of Labour and Employment dated 26th September 2017, the Union Home Minister has launched the Platform for Effective Enforcement for No Child Labour (PENCIL) Portal and released the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the enforcement of the legal framework against child labour. PENCIL is an electronic platform that aims to involve the Centre, State, District Governments, civil society, and the general public in achieving the target of a child labour-free society.

Components of the PENCIL Portal

The PENCIL Portal (pencil.gov.in) has various components, namely the Child Tracking System, Complaint Corner, State Government, National Child Labour Project, and Convergence. The SOP is aimed at creating a ready reckoner for trainers, practitioners, and monitoring agencies to ensure the complete prohibition of child labour and the protection of adolescents from hazardous labour, ultimately leading to a Child Labour-Free India.
