Accident on Duty: Should ESI Cover Wages for Absence Due to Injury?

vltreddy999
One employee joined in the month of 15 June 17 in the establishment, met with an accident on 20 July 17 while on duty. The accident report was submitted online, and he was admitted to the ESI hospital. There were no wages paid by the company to the employee during the absent days since the employee was not present for duty. Now, the employee has approached the company to pay the absent wages since ESI didn't pay the amount to him during the absent period of two months. The question is whether the ESI department is liable to pay the absent period wages to him or not.

In case of an accident, ESI will pay for the absent days. If it's not an accident, then for sickness, ESI doesn't pay the amount until the prescribed days are completed by the ESI.
