Hiring Freshers on Contract: Do We Need to Deduct PF, PT, ESIC, and LWF from Their 10K Salary?

Hi all,

I am looking out for a few freshers in my company with a salary of around 10K or less. In case we hire the employees on a contractual basis, is there a need to make deductions from their salary? Deductions such as PF, PT, ESIC, and LWF, as we do for other confirmed employees. Please suggest.

You have to effect the statutory deductions, whether on payrolls or on contracts, unless you hire them as trainees and pay a stipend. Of course, soon after absorption, the statutory deductions have to be done.
