Hi friends,

Can anyone suggest from where one can do a Ph.D. in Management through distance learning? Is there anyone here who has done it? Please enlighten!

Hi,

You can pursue your Ph.D. program at Alagappa University in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, or at Mother Teresa University (if you are a woman).

Thank you.

To do a PhD in management, you should have an MBA or M.Com, and some universities insist on an M.Phil too.

Yes, you can.

1. AIMA, New Delhi, offers a Ph.D. Program through Aligarh Muslim University.
2. Contact Prof. Kaliamurthy of Alagappa University, referring to my name.
3. IGNOU has also introduced a Ph.D. Program.
4. Many universities offer Ph.D. Programs where you need to register but do not need to attend any classes. There are many options available; write once selected.

Hi Satish,

I saw your post on this forum. Could you please suggest something to enroll in a Ph.D.? I want to do a Ph.D. by distance learning. I checked a few universities, and they are asking to come up with some research ideas. So, I'm just wondering, is there any place where I could get some abstracts or research topics.

Your help is really appreciated.

Thanks,
Sushil

Please see the reply I gave to Shini. Recently, UGC revised the guidelines for M.Phil./Ph.D. through correspondence. In Tamil Nadu, it was restricted in 2005. Now, you can try with IGNOU once you have developed a synopsis. You can also contact universities in Bengaluru for a part-time Ph.D. (Self-Financed Candidate) with short residential requirements, sometimes waived for local residents residing within a reasonable distance from the university to attend evening/day courses of the coursework part of Ph.D.

In cases where the waiver is given, join immediately and try to finish that part as early as possible. Thereafter, you can continue even after being transferred, as in that case, you need to attend the department only twice a semester. The minimum time for submission is 3 years, generally.

WISH YOU ALL THE BEST.

Hope I answered initially.

Dear Sir,

Could a Ph.D. in Management be helpful after an MBA (Finance)? Please suggest.

I am 35 years old with 8 years of experience in Accounts and Systems. Additionally, I have completed an M.Com (Accounts).

Please advise if pursuing a Ph.D. would be suitable for my career.

Thank you, Sir.

Ph.D. Programs Through Distance Learning in India

Ph.D. programs typically require full-time attendance at an institution. However, for those who are working, this can be quite challenging. In India, only three universities offer a Ph.D. program through distance mode. Other universities require compulsory attendance and many do not admit applicants who are not teaching staff.

For those who are working and aspire to pursue a doctoral program, please consider applying to IGNOU, Netaji Subash Chandra Bose University in Kolkata, or Dravidian University in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh. These three universities are recognized by the Distance Education Council and have affiliations with the UGC.

Among the three, IGNOU has limited intakes and entry is challenging. NSCU's admission process is erratic, requiring close follow-up for the opening of admissions. Dravidian University is relatively easy and user-friendly. It is jointly formed by three states - Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. DU has study centers across India. Visit www.dravidianuniversity.ac.in to learn more. The entry requirement for DU is a minimum of 50% in post-graduation.

Hi, after passing the Ph.D. entrance exam, what should be the next step? Kindly give your suggestions/advice.

---

After passing the Ph.D. entrance exam, the next step would typically involve selecting an advisor or supervisor for your research. This is a crucial decision as your advisor will play a significant role in guiding your research and academic development. It is essential to choose someone who aligns with your research interests and with whom you can work effectively. Additionally, you may need to start developing a research proposal outlining your intended area of study and research objectives. This proposal will be a key document as you progress through your Ph.D. program. Good luck with your academic journey!
