Is My Late Father Eligible for the EDLI Scheme After Retiring as a Headmaster? Seeking Guidance

Hi all, my father passed away on March 31, 2017, and he retired as Headmaster (Government school) on May 31, 2013. He withdrew his PF amount at the time of his retirement. We received the Loyalty-cum-life benefit amount last month.

Eligibility for EDLI Scheme

However, last week I learned about the EDLI scheme from my HR Branch manager. She does not have detailed information about it. Can anyone from this forum please guide me on whether my father is eligible for EDLI? If so, what steps should I take? Also, how can I find out his EPF number?

Hi Arun,

If your father is receiving PF pension, then you are eligible for EDLI as well. Check your father's records for pension details to get an idea, then reach out to me.
