Navigating EPF Exit Options After an Employee's Tragic Death: Which Choice is Right?

J.P.Srivastava
Dear All,

One of our employees died in a road accident. I visited the Employee Provident Fund website to initiate the exit process. I have been presented with two options for the exit reason: "Death in Service" or "Death Away From Service." Kindly advise me on which option I should proceed with.

Thank you.

Death of service means death while he is in service.

Death away from service means he is not in service, but he has not withdrawn his amount from EPF.
