Facing Errors with EDLI Wages Over 15000 in ECR Submission – How Can I Resolve This?

Harjeet
In the unified portal, while submitting the ECR, it is showing an error as two of my employees' EDLI wages are showing more than 15000. How should I proceed? The employees are eager to avail of PF benefits.

If the employee and employer both agree to contribute above the prescribed ceiling of ₹15,000/-, then the employer can deduct 12% from basic + DA and contribute the equal amount from the employer's side. Along with EDLI and administrative charges, he can generate ECR.

Dear Anamika,

The maximum ceiling for EDLI is Rs. 15,000. Consequently, for 2 employees, enter EDLI wages as Rs. 15,000 and upload ECR once again.

Dear All,

If the wages are more, then for EDLI, the limit of 15,000 applies because the benefits are limited to 15,000. One cannot contribute more than that because there are no benefits above that amount. However, if the wages are more than 15,000, then there is one option. Count 12% on the entire wage, contribute the EDLI amount on 15,000, and the rest in PF. That is permissible.

EDLI benefits are limited to Rs 15,000; hence, there is no point in contributing more to EDLI. That is why it is not being accepted. However, EPF and EPS can be voluntary contributions above Rs 15,000.

Dear Raghavant,

Please note that EPS present wage ceiling is Rs15,000/-. Can an employee voluntarily contribute to EPS beyond the ceiling of Rs15,000/-? Please clarify. Employer share of PF is diverted to EPS at 8.33% up to Rs15,000/-.

Dear All,

If your Basic + DA is more than ₹15,000 per month, then your contribution will be 12% on your actual PF wages, i.e., Basic + DA. EDLI will be deducted on ₹15,000, which is mandatory, and you cannot contribute more than ₹15,000 in EDLI. The rest of the amount will be added to the Employer's contribution.
