ESI Reimbursement Dilemma: Can an Employee Claim Hospital Expenses Paid Out-of-Pocket?

hr krishna
One employee had ESI, and recently, his mother suffered from ill health. However, he did not use his ESI for treatment; instead, he paid money to the hospital, and later she passed away. Can he claim the amount that he paid to the hospital? If possible, what is the process?

Dear Krishna,

The answer to your question is, "No, he can't claim anything."

Krishna, you can visit the ESI website. I think if in an emergency she is admitted to a different hospital without going to ESI, there are some rules, especially if the patient has died. Why don't you personally check with ESI.
