Can Institutes Without University Affiliation Truly Be Autonomous and Are Their Certificates Valid?

L.C.PAL
Dear All,

A society registered under State Govt. for the promotion of education can manage an institute? Is it mandatory that the institute has affiliation from a university/AICTE? If an institute has no affiliation from any university/AICTE, then what is its status - is that institute called an autonomous institute?

Such institutes:
- National Institute of Business Management, Chennai
- Institute of Health Care Administration, Chennai
- All India Institute of Management & Technology, Chennai

These above-mentioned institutes claim that they are autonomous institutes while not having affiliation from any university/AICTE. Are diplomas/certificates issued by such institutes valid? Are short-term courses offered by such institutes valid in society?

Please clarify about the autonomous institutes.

Regards,

Even IIM's and IIT's are autonomous institutes. They are not affiliated with any university. Diplomas and PG Diplomas would carry value if you are pursuing them alongside your job. It's usually done to add qualifications to your CV.
