Navigating Apprentice Limits: How Can Our Factory Ensure Compliance with National Guidelines?

M.D. Modi
To determine how many apprentices are permitted in our factory, we need to understand the guidelines outlined by the National Apprentice Promotion Scheme. As an engineering factory registered under this scheme, we must follow specific protocols for assessing and managing the number of apprentices we can host. It is crucial to consult the official documentation and contact the relevant authorities to ensure compliance with the regulations governing apprentice intake. By adhering to these procedures, we can effectively assess the appropriate number of apprentices allowed in our facility.

Legal apprentices are as per the Apprentices Act, or if the apprentice is defined under your state's factories rules, which is very unlikely. All other apprentices will be considered as normal employees under the Minimum Wages Act. So be careful in engaging apprentices.

You need to approach the apprentice adviser who is being allocated to your area. He will visit your organization, evaluate the eligibility, and advise you on the allocation process. Your approach should be based on the qualifications, i.e., ITI, Diploma, and even Engineering graduates.
