Is It Legal to Classify Piece-Rate Workers in Social Audits? Plus ESI and PF Management Tips

ManojPrabhaahar
Hi,

In our company, we have more than 50 piece-rate workers who receive salaries ranging from 10,000 to 45,000 monthly. The question is, as we are going to conduct social audits (ISO, OHSAS, SA8000, Sedex), is it legal to classify them as piece-rate workers in the audits? Additionally, how should we manage ESI and PF for these workers?

Thank you.

Dear Sir,

Greetings of the day!

Please share the details below for better understanding:
- Are they deployed under any contractor?
- Are they submitting any bills to claim the piece rate amount?

Thank you.

Yes, sir, they were deployed under a contractor, but they didn't provide us any bills. They just gave the number of pieces they stitched.
