Returning to Work After a 3-Year Break: What Salary Increase Can I Expect?

dneha10
Dear all,

Greetings!

I have 5.4 years of experience, out of which 4 years have been in recruitment and administration roles. I took a 3-year break after my delivery, and now I am planning to join a new job.

Could someone please inform me about the current standard rate of salary increase offered by companies? Also, will my pay structure be affected by the extended break I took?

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,

Normally, a 20-30% hike is offered to candidates. However, it still depends on the candidate's profile, experience, and of course, the company where you are going for an interview. There will be a small effect on your remuneration due to the 3-year gap, which matters significantly. If you can explain the genuine reasons for the gap to recruiters, they may be flexible. Nevertheless, after such a gap, candidates often have less room to negotiate on salary and profile. HR will likely try to take advantage of this point to minimize your CTC.
