Confused About EPF Pension Eligibility? Why My Total Service Years Aren't Counting

sramani20
I worked in SAIL from April 1979 to October 1998, resigned from my job, and withdrew PF from them. Then I joined M&M in November 1998, worked until October 2009, resigned from that job, and withdrew my PF from them. Later, I joined XXX Agrawal & Co in November 2009 and worked until March 2014. I received my PF from this employment also.

When I sent Form 10D for claiming my EPF pension, they rejected my request stating that I had only completed 4.5 years of service with them and I am not eligible as I have not met the 10-year service period required to claim a pension. They did not agree when I explained that they should consider my total length of service and not just the last stint. I seek clarity on this issue. Thank you.

Dear Member,

Has SAIL EPF & EPS been withdrawn, or only EPF?
Has M&M EPF & EPS been withdrawn, or only EPF?
Has XXX Agrawal & Co EPF & EPS been withdrawn, or only EPF?

If you have already withdrawn only EPF, you should have received a Scheme Certificate in lieu of EPS.

Dear Srinath Sir,

I withdrew my EPF only from SAIL, resigned from that job, and joined M&M. I worked for 11 years there, resigned from that job, and withdrew my EPF. Currently, I am receiving a pension from M&M. Subsequently, I joined GA, worked for only 4.5 years, and then left. GA informed me that since I had not completed 10 years with them, I am not eligible to receive the EPS. I am seeking clarification on my eligibility based on my services in these companies.

Kindly advise, sir.

Thank you.

You are surely eligible to get a pension from M&M. Go to the respective PF office in that area and inquire about the pension for that particular EPS account.
