Ending Formal Letters on Behalf of Your Company: What's the Best Sign-Off?

Nirosha_HR
While signing off every formal letter on behalf of the company, how should we end.

---

When closing a formal letter on behalf of the company, it is essential to use a professional and respectful sign-off. Common options for ending a formal letter include:

1. "Sincerely,"
2. "Yours faithfully,"
3. "Best regards,"

Each of these sign-offs conveys a sense of professionalism and courtesy, which is important when representing the company in written correspondence. It is also crucial to ensure that the chosen sign-off aligns with the tone and content of the letter.

I hope this information helps you in choosing an appropriate way to end formal letters on behalf of the company.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely is the most commonly accepted standard ending of a formal letter. Why are you wishing to change that? What are the circumstances under which the standard ending is not sounding right?

I mostly use "Regards" in my emails as a closing.

Appraisal Letters

Appraisal letters, being letters in nature, do not require another covering letter; it is a waste of stationery. An appraisal letter can encompass, among other things, the past performance of the employee, whether it met, exceeded, or fell below targets, and how their people-related skills were assessed.

Numerical Evaluation

The next paragraph discusses how the employee has been evaluated numerically, in case your organization adopts the Bell Curve for force-fitting.

Encouragement and Closing

The third and final paragraph should include positive and motivating words to encourage the person to perform better in the coming year and wish them all the best from the management in their efforts. Close the letter simply with "With Best Wishes." This is more than enough.

Signing off can also be 'best wishes / Good Luck'.
