Facing Pressure to Resign Due to Pregnancy and Salary Issues – How Should I Handle This?

suchi90singh@gmail.com
I work in a facility manpower services company where my Manager and Assistant Manager are pressuring me to resign from my position. The reason they have given is that other employees are working for less salary, so they question why they should pay me more. They have not sent me any email regarding this, but they ask me daily to resign. In reality, they have another reason to terminate me—I am pregnant, and they have never provided maternity benefits to any employee, even though I am eligible for it. In the past, they have done the same thing with other employees as well.

Please assist me in this case.

Eligibility for Maternity Benefits

You are eligible for maternity benefits if you are a confirmed employee. Do not resign; instead, approach the local labor officer. Make a written complaint so that they can assist you in obtaining your maternity benefits. Alternatively, discuss with them that you will resign, but request notice pay salary as well as salary for 6 months in lieu of maternity benefits.

Legal Action and Resignation Process

If they refuse, proceed legally with the help of the local labor inspector. If they agree, then draft a resignation letter properly. In the letter, mention that you are resigning with immediate effect as the company has requested your resignation. Include details of the discussion where they assured you of notice pay and maternity benefits.

Thank you for your reply. I am not resigning from my post now. I am sending an email regarding maternity leave to see what they will do after that. One more thing, they are now giving a new reason for my performance. In the past 10 months, they have been providing me with silly reasons.
