ESI Deductions: Should They Be Included in Salary Breakup or Offer Letter?

kavinay
Regarding ESI, should it be mentioned in the salary breakup or not? Please provide me with information. When we offer a candidate, should ESI deduction be mentioned in the offer letter or salary slip?

ESI contribution needs to be deducted from the employee's gross salary. Therefore, being a part of a salary deduction, it will appear on the payslip. As far as the employer's contribution is concerned, it shouldn't be on the payslip as it is neither credited nor debited from the employee's salary.

Of course, in the CTC breakup, it will be shown as a cost incurred.
