Minimum Wage Implementation in Jharkhand
Why are the minimum wages, as approved by the Central Government, not being implemented by our Jharkhand State Government for contract laborers working in industries?
The Central Government has clearly stated that Rs. 18,000 per month will be the minimum wage, which is mandatory for all workers, whether they are on contract or direct labor, for the state. The State has the independence to raise or set the minimum labor wages above Rs. 18,000 per month, but this amount will be the minimum wage for all states as determined by the Government of India. This will be established as the universal wage set by the Government of India for all states in India. Regardless of the worker's situation, whether they are contract laborers or in any field or category, it is mandatory to fix the minimum wage at Rs. 18,000 per month.
