Salary Under 15000: Is PF Deduction Really Mandatory? Can Anyone Clarify?

Is it mandatory to deduct PF from a salary less than 15000? Please clarify, anybody.

It is mandatory to deduct PF from the employee's salary if the salary is less than ₹15,000.

Dear Mr. Srinivas,

If your establishment is covered under the EPF Act, all employees whose Gross Basic + DA + VDA is Rs 15,000/- PM and below will come under the purview of the EPF Act. The present EPF, EPS, and EDLI wage ceiling is Rs 15,000/-.

Please note that once the EPF Act is made applicable to your establishment, you are bound to comply with the same.

Yes, it is mandatory to deduct PF for the employees whose basic salary and dearness allowance are less than Rs. 15,000. You have to be a contributory member of PF. For more information, please refer to the link: https://www.stacowiki.in/en/acts/st-...ident-fund-pf/.

It is not applicable to all employees. For example, if the employee is over 58 years old or if they have taken an exemption from the EPF department.
