Facing EPFO Site Issues? Here's How to Handle Missed PF Deadlines and Avoid Penalties

EPFO Site Functionality Issues

The EPFO site has not been working since 9th June 2017, making it impossible to generate ECR and make online payments for May month's PF dues. It appears that the site will not be operational before the Provident Fund's due date of 15th June.

Online PF Processes

PF processes have now shifted online, allowing for PF contributions to be made exclusively through online platforms. The due date for PF payments is set for the 15th of the following month, with any delays in payment incurring interest and penalties.

Deadline Extension Recommendation

If the department fails to restore site functionality by 15th June, it should ideally extend the deadline by a few days, waiving any interest and penalties for payments made during the extended period.

Communication and Documentation

All organizations are advised to communicate with the PF department via email or letter, keeping a documented record of all correspondence for future reference. There is a possibility that organizations may receive notices of interest and penalties for not remitting May's PF dues by 15th June 2017. In such cases, these maintained records will serve as evidence that the delay was not the organization's fault.

Thank you.

Sir,

I would be grateful if you could help me by providing the email IDs of the EPF Department where I can address my concerns. The EPF site is currently not functioning, and I am unable to upload the ECR.

Sincere regards,

Hi All,

The PF department has extended the remittance deadline for the due month of May 2017. The payment, originally due by 15-06-2017, has been extended by one day. Therefore, the new deadline is now 16-06-2017.

Thank you.

I had sent an email to the PF department on 12th June 2017, asking them to extend the PF due date due to a serious technical error in the PF Unified portal. From morning to midnight, the site is not opening. I requested them to issue a circular as they had done in January 2017 for the wage period of May 2017. I had written from my official email in red bold letters, "REQUESTING YOU TO RESOLVE THIS SERIOUS TECHNICAL ERROR IMMEDIATELY, OTHERWISE, THE SAME EMAIL WILL BE FORWARDED TO LABOUR MINISTER BANDARU JI."

Based on my email, they have extended the PF due date from 15th June to 16th June 2017 for the wage period of May 2017. This is for your kind information.

Thanks & Regards,
Manas Ranjan Pal
