EPFO Site Functionality Issues
The EPFO site has not been working since 9th June 2017, making it impossible to generate ECR and make online payments for May month's PF dues. It appears that the site will not be operational before the Provident Fund's due date of 15th June.
Online PF Processes
PF processes have now shifted online, allowing for PF contributions to be made exclusively through online platforms. The due date for PF payments is set for the 15th of the following month, with any delays in payment incurring interest and penalties.
Deadline Extension Recommendation
If the department fails to restore site functionality by 15th June, it should ideally extend the deadline by a few days, waiving any interest and penalties for payments made during the extended period.
Communication and Documentation
All organizations are advised to communicate with the PF department via email or letter, keeping a documented record of all correspondence for future reference. There is a possibility that organizations may receive notices of interest and penalties for not remitting May's PF dues by 15th June 2017. In such cases, these maintained records will serve as evidence that the delay was not the organization's fault.
Thank you.
