Navigating Weekly Offs: How Do Leaves and Working Days Affect Entitlements?

Greetings! In our company, we have a policy of 2 additional days off in addition to the regular weekly day off, i.e., 6 or 7 days off in a month. I have a few cases for discussion and would like to gather all seniors' views on it:

1. In the case where an employee is on leave for 15 days, i.e., from 1st June to 15th June, how many weekly offs is he entitled to for that month?

2. If an employee has taken 4 or 5 CLs in a month, how many weekly offs is he entitled to?

3. Do we need to consider the working days in a month when calculating weekly offs? Should we count PLs as working days for the calculation of weekly offs?

I am encountering significant industrial unrest in my company due to this issue. I kindly request you to share your views on the above subject and provide me with the relevant clauses of the act regarding weekly offs.

Sir,

Can you please clarify the weekly half for piece-rate employees? We have two categories of employees:

1. Monthly wage employees - salary calculations based on 26 days for all months.

2. Piece-rate employees - compensation is determined based on the garment style, ensuring it is not below the minimum wage.

Our weekly off day is Sunday.
