Hi,

We are a start-up. We supply housekeeping and shopkeeping staff. Currently, we have only 10 staff members. I wanted to know what is the minimum wage I must pay them according to labor law?

As per the law, your city comes under Area A, and the minimum wage is Rs. 13,598 per month.

Yes, paying anything less than prescribed under the MW Act is a violation thereof and is illegal even if the employees take the amount.

If you pay an employee more, I do not think they will object anyway.

This is an unskilled category. The rates will not be so high for unskilled employees in Chennai. It is around 228 per day in Tamil Nadu (can't find for category A specifically), so the same for Chennai city can't be so high.
