Transitioning to a New HR Role: Where Can I Learn About PF, ESI, and More?

arvindjain.smart@gmail.com
Hi all,

I am working in corporate HR where we have specific job roles, and we handle them accordingly. For instance, one person looks after HR Ops, another person is responsible for PF ESI and related tasks, and another person manages LIC matters. Therefore, I don't have much knowledge about the PF ESI aspect.

I have recently been offered a new job where handling these aspects will also be part of my responsibilities, including discipline, PF ESI, Shop and Establishment, etc. Could anyone suggest articles or links that I should study online to gain basic knowledge and manage these tasks smoothly?

Hi,

To give you a gist about PF & ESI: PF is a compulsory contributory fund for an employee's future, meaning that they benefit from this money after retirement. The Employee State Insurance Act is funded and run by the government; it provides insurance for employees' health if their gross salary is Rs. 21,000 or less. Attached is a PDF briefing about PF and ESI taken from greytHR. This article will help you better understand the concepts.

Hi Sam,

Thanks for helping me out.

Just for re-confirmation, as per my knowledge, the salary range for PF deduction has been revised. Can you correct me if I am wrong?

Thanks,
Arvind
