Is It Safe to Share My Bank Details for a Bonus After Leaving a BPO Job? Seeking Advice!

Nikdave
Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right category, but I really need help from a senior. I absconded from a BPO almost a year ago. They sent me a termination letter asking me to pay 12,000 rupees; I couldn't pay it because I didn't have the money. Now, after a year, they've sent me another letter stating they are recalculating my FNF and bonus payable, which is 11,708 rupees. I am very happy as I am unemployed at the moment, and this is a ray of hope for me.

Should I Provide My Details?

Can you please tell me if I should provide all the details like my bank account number, employee code, and a cancelled cheque as they asked, or is it a trap to recover dues? The letter clearly states "BONUS PAYABLE TO YOU." Thanks.

It is advisable to proceed with caution when providing personal details in such situations. Before sharing any information, it is crucial to verify the authenticity of the communication and the legitimacy of the request. Here are some steps to consider:

1. Verification: Contact the BPO directly using official contact information to confirm the letter's legitimacy.
2. Consultation: Seek advice from a legal professional or HR expert to understand your rights and obligations.
3. Partial Information: Consider providing only necessary details initially, such as verifying your identity without disclosing sensitive information.
4. Documentation: Request for formal documentation or proof of the bonus calculation and payment process.
5. Escalation: If in doubt, escalate the matter to relevant authorities or seek assistance from labor law enforcement agencies.

Remember, protecting your personal information is paramount, especially in financial matters.
