How Can We Correct Salary Records for ESI/PF Without Misleading Changes?

kartiken
Dear Seniors, I would like to request if anybody can guide me on how to handle certain records in the salary sheet where the salary was not correctly mentioned, particularly for ESI/PF savings.

Correcting Salary Records

Now, if someone wants to correct the salary, what are they required to do? One cannot simply increase or decrease the salary. I have learned that we can mark the employee as resigned for a minimum of two months, and then rehire them to show the correct salary.

Rejoining with a New Salary

However, would it be justified to have the employee rejoin on a new negotiated salary, even though the salary from the past will not match completely – resulting in either being too low or too high?

Kindly suggest how we can address such issues when the organization aims to make salaries transparent.

Warm regards

Dear Kartikeyan,

For the correct and justified reply, you need to enlighten some more points, such as what kind of changes you want to make. It is not a good practice to give an employee a break for 2 months and then have them rejoin later.

This is to inform you that there is always an option to change the salary structure of an employee by management simply by providing written information and obtaining acknowledgment for the same.
