About Salary Slip Of Salary That Was Paid In Cash?

ImAshuMishra
Hi everyone,

This is Ashu. I was working in a company for 2 years where I received a salary of 15k in cash. Now, I have changed companies and joined another one. The issue I am facing now is that they are demanding my salary slips from the last 3 months. I am unsure of how to proceed. Can anybody help me?

Hi, Ashu. In your company where you receive your salary in cash, when they pay you, the HR person of that company takes your signature with a revenue stamp. So, when you move to a new company, you can show this as proof and explain it to them.

If it was paid in cash and not through a bank/online, then it is difficult to prove the quantum of salary. This situation becomes difficult in the absence of a salary slip too.

Try to find any other documents, i.e., offer letter, appointment letter, etc., which declare your salary. If there are none, it is difficult to prove.

Whether you receive your salary by cash or cheque, asking for a salary slip is not an issue. It is standard practice for companies to request a salary slip when you join. If you are receiving a salary without any documentary evidence, then it can be challenging for you to join a new company.

Dear Mishra Ji,

I do concur with Ritesh Maity, Labour Law Advocate in Kolkata. However, in a private organization, you have not provided substantial proof. You are required to ask your previous employer to issue a salary certificate on their letterhead with the proper stamp.

I don't think this is a significant issue. Any organization would agree to this proof.

Thank you,
Ashutosh
