Feeling Stuck in My HR Role at a Startup: Is My Experience Going to Waste?

kavitsinghmba
Respected seniors,

I am working as an HR Executive in a BPO since June 2016. It's a startup company.

HR Functions I Perform

So, I need to perform limited functions of HR like:

- Taking the final round of interviews of candidates referred by consultancy
- Conducting joining formalities and induction of new candidates
- Preparation of various kinds of HR letters such as offer letter, appointment letter, confirmation letter, increment letter, termination letter, warning letter for various reasons, etc.
- Preparation of salary slips and salary breakup for different employees. However, it does not include PF, ESI, etc., calculations.
- Preparation of HR policies, rules, and regulations, etc.

Challenges and Concerns

I am getting very few learning opportunities because I was a fresher at the time of joining, and there is no senior person to guide me. I want to learn more functions of HR, especially in payroll management, but I am not able to learn here. Also, I am facing stability issues here, with delayed salary every month.

Career Uncertainty

Due to my limited knowledge of HR executive functions, I am uncertain about whether I will be able to secure HR jobs similar to this one if I decide to switch.

Is my one-year experience going to be wasted? Should I consider starting somewhere else as a beginner?

Please guide me with your valuable points; it would be really helpful for me.

Regards,

Hello Kavita, you are facing problems in managing HR and payroll-related activities in your organization, and you fear things will worsen even more. I wanted to know whether you are using HR software for your HR-related activities or not because the functions of HR can get complex and tedious sometimes, and processing payroll has time-related restrictions attached to it.

In this case, the problems you are facing, you need to simplify the tasks you are performing. If you are performing everything manually just on Excel sheets, then definitely you won't be able to keep up with the pace. I would advise you to talk to your reporting person or the director of your institution, and you should go for using software for this purpose.

By using good software, you would now be able to:

- Reduce your effort
- Reduce time
- Improve your performance

Hey Kavita, do not let yourself down. It doesn't matter if you have limited knowledge about HR and you have to play the role of an HR executive. The only thing that matters is your eagerness to learn, your passion, and dedication. You have been given more responsibility; fulfill those responsibilities. Those people who gave you these responsibilities, in the first place, saw something in you; that is why they hired you.

Work smartly, manage your tasks. The whole HR community is revolutionizing by turning towards technology. You also do the same; take technology as your HR companion.

Here is the list of top HR and payroll software here in this link - [Top HR software | Get Free Consultation](https://www.softwaresuggest.com/hr-software)
