Career Crossroads: How Should I Choose Between HR Roles for Growth and Salary?

I have completed an MBA in HR from an average institute this year and worked as a Generalist HR Executive in a Pvt. Ltd. Company for 6 months, where I was earning 10K. Now, I have joined a Senior Management Search Firm that specializes in Retained Search only. I am now earning 12K with incentives up to 50% of my salary. I am also receiving other offers for Training & Development and Recruitment (Contingency). However, I am unsure about what to choose. I am seeking advice on the best route for me in terms of growth and salary. Your urgent help would be greatly appreciated.

Tell me one thing, are you comfortable with the new profile you have right now? Secondly, if new offers create excitement in you, then you can join. But, as per my advice, HR Generalist is a good profile for anyone.

This is purely based on your interest. See where your interest lies. Then you won't be in dilemma, and we can't say that only this particular field is perfect or that is perfect. The only thing is whatever the work or profile is, it is such that how you do it. Are you doing it with your full heart or just for the sake of doing it?

So, don't look at the offers. They come one way or another. You have to make your path in the way you want it. So, my dear, think twice and make a decision on what you want to do.

It's nice to know that you are gaining exposure in multiple areas in a short time. However, from now on, when changing jobs, please keep in mind the aspect of stability. Frequently changing jobs is not advisable unless you have a valid reason to leave.

First, you need to decide whether you want T&D Recruitment or a Generalist Profile because it will help you to grow. Just for merely a couple of thousand rupees, don't go for a change. Make a decision according to your strengths and targets.

I do agree with all of you about the stability aspect. However, the thing is money is important too. That's where the dilemma lies. I am liking Recruitment. But is there ample growth in it? When I see that any graduate is getting jobs in this field, I become anxious about the prospects.

Please, I am asking what you guys think about the future in recruitment and whether I will have any prospects later for a generalist role if I continue in this.

It is advisable to thoroughly learn your present job and then analyze the possibility of making a change. In today's world, opportunities are plentiful, so focus on improving your talents rather than solely seeking a salary increase.
