Survey says, “Women Workforces are hired not because they are intelligent but because Enterprise can not afford Man Workforces; moreover there will be less Industrial Relations issues with Women Workforces”. Is this true?

Hiring Women Employees: A Balanced Perspective

We cannot come to a two-point conclusion for hiring women employees. There are more talented women employees than men. Despite the lower representation of women in the workforce in establishments, some of the top management positions are occupied by women. For example, the chairpersons of India's largest public and private banks were women. Therefore, we cannot come to such a conclusion.

Industrial Relations and Women Employees

There was industrial unrest in Karnataka last year by women employees protesting against the lowering of the EPF interest rate. So, we cannot say that there won't be industrial relations issues if we have more women employees.

Evaluating Workforce Issues

Every issue and perception must be scrutinized based on the total number of the workforce in terms of gender and industry, wages, etc. We cannot come to a conclusion with just a one-sided view.

Apart from what Mr. Stephen has mentioned, for a survey, a few people are handpicked, and questionnaires are given or asked where they provide their opinions/answers based on their conceptions. Hence, it is not necessary to assume that all surveys conducted are always correct.

Whenever critical and sensitive decisions are to be made in an enterprise, women are often at the forefront, while men tend to stay in the background. Why is this the case?
fc.vadodara@nidrahotels.com
Please check the percentage of women working compared to men in all enterprises and across various fields to draw a conclusion. I don't want to make any further comments that may lead to gender bias.

The Need for Women Employees

Today, the need has arisen for women employees. They are chosen based on:

1. Job suitability
2. Skills matching
3. Availability of manpower
4. Women employment policy
5. Avoiding gender discrimination

Challenges for Women in the Workplace

At the workplace, numerous problems for women will also arise, which need to be managed, such as:

1. General harassment
2. Sexual harassment
3. Benefit policies
4. Liberal leave and working policies
5. Maternity issues - provisions, cost, and management
6. Safety and other social issues

All of the above are part of the process of life and management.

Dear Mr. Thakkar,

Kindly share the survey, based on which the question is being asked. As to why women are recruited and women empowerment are two different topics. There are women who are better than men for the positions that, till date, are being considered only for men. Additionally, no one has data that says industrial problems will not occur if women are employed.

Therefore, I request you to please share the survey so that everyone can be on the same page when they are speaking.

As part of the Women Empowerment Program, the government wants to employ 50% females in all enterprises. Cooking food, cleaning utensils, etc., are now considered tasks that both men and women can do.

For uneducated marketers, women empowerment means the use of women to impact sales decisions. For uneducated entrepreneurs, women empowerment means the use of women as low-cost workforces.
