Navigating Leave Rules for Employees Working Across Multiple Cities: Need Guidance

Sohna
Dear Seniors,

We plan to depute a few of our Sales and Marketing resources to different locations. Though they will be on the payrolls of our company based out of Delhi, they will be spread to other metro cities for sales. I want to know which state's leave rules will be applicable to them, Delhi or the state where they are deputed.

Also, what happens in the case a colleague is dividing his time between two cities, let's say Hyderabad and Mumbai. Kindly advise.

Dear Sohna, the person is in the Sales department, so his major work is to meet clients. For example, if he is in Kolkata, Kolkata normally has leaves for 3-4 days for Navratri. In contrast, Delhi typically only has a leave on Dussehra day. If you insist on him following Delhi's leave schedule, he will be enjoying a working day without any work as no clients are going to meet him.

Conversely, Delhi has a leave on Baisakhi, while Kolkata usually has no leave on that day. If he follows Delhi's leaves, he will lose one day of business as the market and clients are working on that day in Kolkata. Therefore, it is always beneficial to give leaves as per the region he is working in, as this will help the organization in terms of completing work on time.

Rest, it's your call...

Also, if the person is distributing his time between two states, then one will be his base state, and the other he will travel to considering the working days of the clients and the market in the other state.

Hope the concept is clear.

Are you referring to National & Festival Holidays?

NH & FH of the respective state, depending upon the place of work, applies.

There is no bounding of leave if an employee is in the Sales Department. Only he has to follow the listed holiday policy and obey the rules subject to state-wise and region-wise leave allotment.
