Confused About ESI e-Pehchan Cards in Chennai? How to Ensure Medical Benefits for Your Family

elizabethmariajoseph
Dear seniors,

I have a doubt regarding the ESI e-pehchan cards. I am working in the Chennai region. ESI is not issuing smart cards like before. How can an Insured Person (IP) and their family/dependents receive medical benefits? Does the IP have to affix a family photograph on the temporary e-pehchan cards?

Please help me.

Dear Elizabeth,

Please upload IP and his/her dependents' Aadhar numbers on the ESI website. The Aadhar numbers of IP and his/her dependents should reflect on the e-pehchan card. This e-pehchan card can serve as a Permanent Identity card for availing medical benefits until the eligibility for medical benefits expires.

Thanks

Dear Murli, I just completed the ESI registration process for employees in my organization. I have seeded AADHAAR numbers of the IP, the Nominee, and the family members as well. Though the ePehchan cards obtained from the ESI portal had all the AADHAAR details, each one was indicated as "unverified." The registration portal did not have any feature to upload the AADHAAR, nor did the employees receive any OTP or verification on their AADHAAR registered mobile numbers. Are the employees required to visit the nearest ESI dispensary (or their home dispensary) to complete the biometric verification? Any input on this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Dear Arun,

Yes, the employee is required to visit the ESI dispensary to verify Aadhar details.

Thanks,

From where can an employee download this E-Pehchan card for an ESIC person, as ESIC cards are closed in today's time?

Thank you, seniors, for your reply. However, I have one more doubt regarding this. Does the employee have to affix a family photograph and get it attested by the employer? Also, how can an employee avail ESI benefits with these e-pehchan cards?

Should the employee take this card to the nearest dispensary and get it attested to avail medical benefits for themselves and their dependents? In my understanding, every month the employee should take this card to their nearest dispensary and get it attested for treatment.

Dear Elizabeth,

Please find attached the leaflet that will clear all your doubts.

As per the circular, "TIC has been renamed as e-Pehchan Card. If an Insured Person has fed their Aadhaar number in the ESIC Database, this will serve as a Permanent ID in lieu of the Biometric Pehchan Card, and the insured person will not be required to get enrolled for the Biometric Pehchan Card." Even if in the e-Pehchan card, the Aadhaar status shows "Unverified," the Insured Person is still insured and can receive treatment. With Aadhaar-based authentication, the Insured Person does not need to go to a Pehchan camp. Please find the attached circular for more clarification.

Hello sir,

I have my e-pehchan card in PDF format and I would like to obtain my ESIC card. How can I go about getting it? Additionally, I am interested in adding another family member to the card. Is this possible?

Thank you.

Instead, it has been more than 1 year since I visited any ESIC dispensary to link my Aadhar. Can I still visit my nearest dispensary to link my Aadhar or add a member?
