Feeling Left Out: How Can We Make Male Employees Feel Valued on Women's Day?

Good Afternoon Members!

We have a staff of around 30 employees, among whom there are only 10 male employees. The male staff feels that they are not given as much importance as the female employees. On Women's Day, we gave chocolates and roses to our female employees. While the females were very happy, the male staff was equally dissatisfied. They even mentioned that the females had not done anything special to deserve a whole day dedicated to them.

Steps to Address Male Employee Concerns

Kindly enlighten me on the steps that should be taken by me as the HR of the company to satisfy the male staff and make them feel valued.

We had celebrated Women's day in office by giving Gifts (Ladies Purse) & Roses to Women. For Male employees we gave one Big Greeting card to say Thank You. Management said that, its women's day so we had given priority to women's.
Also, we had arranged Role Drama play from Male side. Subject was Women's Role.
What else we can do.. please suggest..

Treating Employees Equally

You must treat all employees equally. It depends on the occasion how you greet employees; you can do so with gifts to balance the motivating factor. Additionally, you can organize tournaments, indoor/outdoor games for both males and females, and host food festivals. By doing this, you are giving male and female staff equal importance. Alternatively, you can recognize the Best Male Employee of the Month and the Best Female Employee of the Month with awards.

Hi Anjali, this is not new. Even I have experienced this in my company. We were only 8 female employees out of 100 male employees, yet they used to envy us. However, they also supported and encouraged us to enjoy our day. So, take it lightly and review the situation; it may not be that serious.

Addressing Gender Disparity in the Workplace

On another note, if it is creating serious repercussions, call for a get-together that includes both male and female employees. Order snacks, etc., so males don't feel deprived of the enjoyment. Initiate some novel ideas that keep everyone happy and content. For example, if you order a cake and snacks, let the ladies cut it. Then ask their male team members to say something good about them voluntarily, such as how enjoyable it was working with them and their qualities.
