Can I Start Freshers at $15,100 Before Raising Their Pay After Training?

Hi,

I run a KPO of 13 people. The freshers I hire are diploma holders in architecture. Their gross salary is $15,100. Currently, we provide them with training on our software under an experienced person for the first 6 months. They do not fall under the skilled category as per the definition and are under probation for a period of 3 months. My question is, can I pay them $15,100 per month initially and then increase it to $16,182, or do I need to pay them $16,182 from the first month itself? We are incurring quite high costs to train them.

Thank you.
Labour Law Index
When you train them, they are not apprentices; they are workmen. Not every kind of company is covered under The Apprentices Act, 1961. The industry must be indulging in a "Designated Trade". The following are the designated trades: List of designated trades for Trade Apprentices: Directorate General of Training (DGT). So, ensure first that they are covered here.

So, you need to pay the minimum wages from the start. Also, now you need to report the wages paid in Shram Suvidha annual return.

Hi,

I looked it up. They are not covered under the designated trades. So can you please advise now? Do I need to pay them minimum wages for skilled labor during the probation period?
