Leave Without Pay for a Year: Do We Need to Issue a '0' Pay Slip for Deductions?

vidya vachaspathi
If an employee has been sanctioned leave without pay for a period of one year and the LOP is in between a financial year, is it mandatory to generate a '0' pay slip only reflecting the statutory deductions made in that financial year?

Thank you all in advance.

Vidya,

Generating payslips is a healthy practice in itself, regardless of whether employees require them or not. I would recommend continuing with this practice to avoid setting any precedents or exceptions, and to uphold internal controls for risk mitigation. Your internal audit team will appreciate seeing a consistent policy being followed.

Best!

As mentioned by Raajesharya, it is a good practice to generate a payslip with 0 attendance. However, since there is no salary, I hope there will not be any statutory deductions too.
