Am I Still Eligible for EPF Pension with a Break in Service? Seeking Clarity

Harisankar Raja
Hi All, I am working in an IT firm. I have a query regarding a break in a certificate. For example, I started working in my company from 2008 to 2017, and due to some physical ailment, I had to take a break of 1 year. Then, I started working from 2018 to 2022. Am I eligible for EPF pension? Please note that I have not had continuous service of 10 years.

Here, I have mentioned a break for 1 year. If the pension is not applicable, does the same happen if the break is even for one month also? Please help me solve the doubt.

If the service period is less than 10 years, you've option to either withdraw your corpus or get it transferred by obtaining a ‘Scheme Certificate'. Once, the service period crosses 10 years, the withdrawal option ceases .For pension, withdrawal benefit, scheme certificate etc. Contact your current employer about EPS status and ask for transfer and ask about
Pension Break Certificate.

Total 10 years EPS contribution is the requirement with either one or more than one employer, but the pension will be payable at age 58 or older.

Thank you.
