Transitioning from Sole Proprietorship to Private Limited: Do We Need New ESI and PF Accounts?

Prashanth Dev
Hello,

We are planning to convert our proprietorship firm into a private limited company. I wanted to know whether we can have the same ESI and PF account that we already have for the proprietorship, or do we need to take a new registration? I consulted a few CAs but got confused. Can anyone who is well-versed in these matters help me, please?

Dear sir,

ESI/PF numbers will remain unchanged if you change the name/product/structure. Your registration numbers are sufficient. Please write a communication letter regarding the change in the name. It's all about the change game.

Dear Prashanth,

There is no need for fresh registrations under ESIC or EPF. You can amend the same online and send request letters to RO ESIC. In EPF, now you can revise the information in form 5A (ownership details) and also send one hard copy to RO EPF for approval.
