Are Contract Workers at My Company Entitled to Leave? Seeking Advice from Seniors

laxman k.
Good morning seniors,

Are the workmen of the contractor working at my company premises entitled to any kind of leave?

Labour Law Index
Yes, they are entitled to all statutory leave. The law presumes that contract labor works under the supervision of the occupier rather than the contractor. Therefore, for the purpose of labor laws, your duty is kind of joint with the occupier.

As enumerated by other members, they are entitled to all types of leave and holidays as stipulated in applicable law, be it the Factory Act or State Acts.

Dear Friends,

Most of the companies do not allow employees to avail any CL, SL, or earned leave. They are treated as a no work, no pay category only. If they do not attend duty, they may not receive wages. Compensatory off is only allowed in some companies.
