Confused About Wage Rates for Garden Workers: Should Central or State Rates Apply?

suresh_nayudu@yahoo.com
Sir, I would like to know which rates any principal employer must take if the principal employer is of the central government in any state, whichever is higher or of that state. Also, what rates should workers working in garden maintenance and jungle clearance inside the factory estate of the principal employer expect? They mention that agricultural rates will be paid, which are much lower compared to the central sphere rates of 214 per day. Please provide government rates for the above clarification.

For a Central Government organization, the minimum wages of the Central or State, whichever is higher, for any category is applicable. Regarding your other query, if your organization has registration with the Labor Commissioner for 'Agricultural Works,' then only they can pay the rate applicable for this category (state or Central, whichever is higher). If they have no such registration at the time of awarding the work, they have to pay the rate applicable to the category for which they have the registration. Please check this.

Best wishes
