Confused About ESIC Sub Code for a Single Employee in Chennai? Need Guidance!

We have an ESIC Code for Ahmedabad, and we have another branch in Chennai. As per a recent government notification, our Chennai branch is now also covered under the ESIC Act. The main issue is that, according to the revised ESIC wage ceiling, we only have one employee in Chennai who is covered under the ESIC Act. My confusion lies in whether we can obtain a sub-code for this one employee or if we should handle the ESIC payment in Ahmedabad. Please guide.

Online ESIC Code and Sub-Code Number Process

I think now ESIC has allowed an online link for actions such as issuing a code number or sub-code number. You can contact the nearest ESIC office in Chennai to discuss the issue with them. While you can make contributions at any location, including Ahmedabad, the insured person can only avail benefits if they have an insurance number from Chennai and are registered with an ESIS dispensary as allotted by the ESIC Branch office in Chennai. Therefore, in my opinion, it is better to obtain the sub-code for the appropriate ESIC region and register your employee with the ESIC branch office in Chennai.

Sunilji,

You can go ahead with the subcode for one employee in Chennai. Otherwise, you can pay his contribution from Ahmedabad and change his dispensary to his nearest place in Chennai for his medical benefit. However, he has to approach his parent branch office in Ahmedabad for financial benefits.

Last month, I created a subcode for Chennai under the main branch in Hyderabad and made the April month payment for existing employees.

This month, when I tried to access the Chennai website, it was blocked because the subcode location was mistakenly set as Puducherry instead of Chennai. We have sent a representative to inquire at the Chennai ESIC Branch.

They have advised us to submit a letter to the ESIC Branch requesting a change of subcode location from Puducherry to Chennai. Could you please suggest the content for the letter that needs to be submitted to the ESIC office?

Also, could you please provide a sample ESIC letter format that I can use for the submission?

Dear Sir, While creating an ESIC subcode, it is necessary to mention the authorized email ID. If, for instance, instead of the authorized email ID, another person's email ID is submitted, he/she may receive an email from the ESIC portal with the username and password. Upon generating the username and password, if the wrong email is identified, should we create another subcode with the same email ID? Would creating another subcode with the same email ID be the right or wrong approach? If it is correct, can we use the same subcode to pay the ESIC amount? Can you please suggest? I am not well-versed with ESIC procedures as I have recently started working on these matters.
