Considering a Career Shift from Safety Engineering to HR: Is a Distance MBA Necessary?

kaustubh.kulkarni009@gmail.com
I am a safety engineer with 1 year of experience from Pune. I want to switch over to the HR field. Is a distance MBA in HR a good option? If yes, which university would you recommend? Also, can I enter the HR domain without an MBA as a starter? Kindly provide some guidance.

It seems that you have just started your career and have only one year of professional experience. If this is true, then yes, the doors of the HR profession are open for you. It's the right time to choose your interest area and career field.

However, I won't suggest a DLP (distance learning) course or MBA because it will not add value to your technical or functional knowledge of HR. Rather, it is just an additional educational qualification. Without theoretical knowledge, you may find it difficult to get through interviews, especially in reputed organizations.

If you are hesitant to opt for a full-time course, then I suggest considering executive MBA or part-time MBA courses from a reputable institute. By any means, if you get the opportunity to transfer to your HR department, you will be able to receive on-the-job training in the HR field as well.
