Confused About Which Bank Account to Use on PF Transfer Form? Let's Discuss!

kumar_mys
When you fill out Form 13 on the first page, in the "Bank account details" section, which bank account number should I provide? My previous company used an SBM bank salary account, and my current company uses an ICICI salary account. Which account number should I mention?

Kumarji,

Never change your bank account for PF/Pension purposes. Let your salary go into any bank account where your company desires.

You should mention your Savings Account No. If you have an SBM account (previous salary account), convert it into a savings account if you don't have any.

Dear RDSYADAV Sir and FC.VADODARA@NIDRAHOTELS.COM Saji Sir, Thanks for the reply. I am still a little confused, and I apologize for that. What I want to clarify is when I joined my previous company, the company created a salary account for me that was linked to my UAN or PF, if I am not mistaken. Now that I have moved to a new company, they have created a new salary account in a different bank because they don't have a tie-up with SBM Bank. Should I mention the savings account number I have in Canara Bank and not mention the previous company or the current company's salary account? Is this what you are suggesting? Please clarify.

Clarification on Bank Account Details

One more thing, at the bottom of the document, they have mentioned: Note: Saying "The Bank A/C details are for verification purposes even if the Fund is transferred to the EPFO Office/Trust maintaining the present account number." What does this mean? Does it mean only the salary account should be mentioned (present or previous company), or can I include my personal savings account? If I mention my personal savings account in Canara Bank, which was never used for salary purposes in any company, would that be acceptable?

Thank you.

Put your Canara Bank savings account. It's the account you plan to keep irrespective of which company you join. Else, after you leave, the money will go to some account you may have closed in the meantime.

Dear Mr. Kumar,

Please consider having only one UAN as my advice. It is likely that your savings account in Canara Bank is not operational if you are managing other savings accounts. This may result in difficulty tracking the same. Always ensure that this savings account remains operational. Additionally, remember that PF/EPS is linked/locked with the savings account at Canara Bank. This approach is for your convenience and should be easy to remember.

You have mentioned that your previous company's Salary Account i.e. SBM account is linked with your previous UAN. You must inform your present employer to link your PF with the old UAN where the SBM account is linked, so there is no need to provide a new Saving Account Number. You have to keep your SBM Account operational until you withdraw the PF amount.

Thank you, SASWATABANERJEE and RDSYADAV Sir, for your replies. I don't know which bank account is currently linked and locked in the PF office for now. But, in Form 13, when I fill it out, I will update the Savings Account number of Canara Bank.

Understanding the Bank Account Linking Process

One thing I wanted to mention is that all these doubts started because every time I join a company and fill out the joining forms, there is a point that says to link the Salary Account with the UAN number. This confused me because I thought each new company would link the present salary account to PF/UAN. Therefore, I believed the current salary account should be mentioned since it has already been verified by the Employer.

I apologize if I have confused anyone with this. I usually strive to understand things properly.

Types of Revised Form 13

I have found two types of Revised Form 13 Forms which I have attached. One requires bank account details to be entered, while the other does not provide that option. Which is the correct type of Form 13?

Kumar,

You can mention your current bank account number or any other account where you hold a savings account; no harm. Nowadays, banks are closing or deactivating accounts where they don't see any salary flow for any employee. As a precaution, mention your current bank account.

Venkatesh

One thing, Sir. We always provide our UAN number, which we already have, to the newly joined company so that they can add the current PF account to the UAN. That's all good. But each time we give the present salary account created from the current company to be linked with UAN, a new salary bank account will be linked to the UAN/PF Portal, right? So the old salary bank account will be removed, and a new salary account will be linked each time, if I am not wrong?

Another point is whenever we plan to withdraw the PF amount, we will provide the bank account (for example, my savings account) which is currently active, along with its cancelled cheque for proper bank address details. The amount will be credited to this savings bank account number which we have provided. Correct, Sir? So then there should not be any worry about which bank account is currently linked in the UAN/PF portal, right, Sir?

Bank Account Details for PF Records

First, I don't see why you should change your bank details in PF records every time the company gives you payment in a different account. The purpose is to record where you will get the PF money, not for PF to monitor where and how much salary you get. So, don't bother to change it. Keep it updated to your normal/standard savings account that you use.

Second, in the future, PF will not ask for bank details with the withdrawal form but will just release the amount into the bank recorded in the PF records.
