Hi Friends,

As an HR professional, I am considering whether posting on Twitter would assist me in recruiting the right candidates. Can you please offer your suggestions?

Thanks & Regards,

Effectiveness of Social Media in Recruitment

Social media works for you if you have a large following and a network of friends. If you post on Twitter stating you have jobs available, someone might see it and apply. But how can you ensure that the candidate sees it? Not everyone is on Twitter. In fact, only a sophisticated few are on Twitter. So if your candidates fit that profile, it will be a good idea; otherwise, it's a waste of time.

Again, if you have followers who are not of the profile you want but retweet the message, and they have followers who match that particular profile, then yes, it works. But why would they retweet? Mostly, people retweet what they think is of interest to others. The next question is how will you attract followers? You need to continuously post information that interests people, and only then will they follow.

You need a proper social media strategy, so it's better to hire an expert who will guide you through and help.
