Impact Of Negative Remarks On Back Ground Verification?

Janekdesai
Hi, I am working with an IT firm in India. Recently, I left that organization following proper norms. I have my relieving letter and experience letter. However, somehow during my notice period, my L+1's behavior was not good, and he was not communicating with me in a proper manner.

My question is, can he give negative remarks during the background verification process? Will it have a significant impact? Or will my experience letter and relieving letter be sufficient to demonstrate that I am a good resource?

Typically, you need to worry about how your relationship was with the company's HR and your manager. Most of the time, the background check is handled directly by HR, and in some cases, it is referred to your manager. Unless there is something serious, you do not get a poor background reference, and some behavioral clashes are not that significant.

You should be good as long as you have served the notice, completed the handover, properly obtained clearance, and didn't break any company rules. In the IT industry, references are very important, especially if you are applying to a big company (startups don't care too much). Your experience should be genuine, salary and documents should be accurate, and if you have left the company after serving the notice, then you shouldn't worry.

Thank you for your response. In regards to your query, I have duly served the proper notice period and possess my experience letter. Nevertheless, my manager seems dissatisfied. It appears that he harbors jealousy towards me. Consequently, I am concerned that he may provide negative feedback.

In such situations, does this feedback truly impact the company? I have all the necessary authentic documents; however, my apprehension lies in the potential negative comments that my manager may offer.
