Many of our employees are having ESI deductions from their basic salary. As an HR professional, I am responsible for addressing their ESI-related queries. I would like to inquire about the process of issuing ESIC Cards. Could you please inform me about the timeline for issuing these cards, their validity period, and how employees can utilize the benefits associated with them? I am also interested in understanding whether the deducted amount accumulates on these cards for a one-time use or if there is a different policy in place. I look forward to your prompt response.

"This is the rule on the ESIC Card: Upon registration under the scheme, the employer can print out the temporary identity certificate, affix the photo provided by the employee, and authenticate it for use. This is valid for a period of 3 months. As soon as possible, but not later than a month, the insured person, along with their entire family, should get themselves enrolled to obtain a 'Pehchan Card.' This identity card serves as a means of identification both for availing medical benefits at dispensaries/hospitals and for availing cash benefits at the ESI branch office. Any changes in residence, dispensary, or employment can be carried out by the employer in the Portal as and when they arise."
